True Literacy Tutoring

We feel very fortunate to have found Alison Stobie. I heard about her through word of mouth and feel very lucky and blessed to have my son work with her. He has dyslexia and working with her was a game changer for his reading and writing development. Her method, skills, and curriculum really helped him excel in getting to grade level. The environment she creates for the kids is amazing (and is a very cool treehouse) and her kind and warm personality bring the experience together that worked so well for my son. I am sad that we have to stop seeing her now that he is in middle school. We will be keeping in touch with her and the dogs. Can't recommend Alison enough. You will be lucky to get to work with her.

There is not enough space to share the amount of praise we have for Alison. Alison Stobie is an incredibly gifted educator and lovely person. We all know our kids learn in different ways and sometimes our school system classrooms aren't designed for all our little learners to thrive in terms of learning styles. We started working with Alison when our daughter was in second grade and we noticed signs of struggle and frustration when learning to read, which was resulting in low confidence in her even wanting to try. We explored supports with the school which we quickly found we slim to non-existent. We then found Alison through recommendations of other parents, and it was a pivotal moment for our daughter and our family; she quickly transitioned from experiencing frustration and low confidence in reading to enjoying and loving reading. We initially engaged with Alison to get our daughter launched on the right path in second grade, but she loved Alison and their time together so much and her confidence in her reading abilities was so high, we actually kept up with visits throughout her full elementary school years where she continued to thrive. Our daughter, still a different learner compared to the traditional public classroom style, is now thriving in middle school and I know it fully stems from her building a such a strong foundation for learning during her time with Alison over the years.

I absolutely can not tell you how grateful we are to have found Alison. She is so warm, caring and passionate about her students. She worked with my son to find ways to keep him centered and focused even when his mind didn’t want to stay still. She met him where he was socially and academically with an impressive amount of knowledge and patience. As a parent, I felt confident that my son was in the right place. Tutoring with Alison was without a doubt one of the best decisions we ever made for our son.

Alison is the most amazing tutor you could ask for. She is patient, kind, and well versed in how to teach kids to read. She has the cutest little tutoring studio that my son loved to visit. She is truly the only reason that my dyslexic son is able to read. He went from not being able to read in 1st grade to being accepted into the HiCap program in Northshore in 3rd grade. I would give her 100 stars if I could.

Mrs Allison is a saint. She has been so great for our Dyslexic son. He has gained so much confidence through his work with her. And her tree house classroom is the coolest tutoring environment anywhere! We are so grateful that she is a part of our community!
