Montessori of Alameda – 21st Century School is a Montessori preschool in Portland that appears to focus on caring for young children in a calm, classroom-based setting. Families looking for a structured early childhood program in Northeast Portland may find it helpful to know that the school is centered on everyday preschool routines rather than drop-in play, giving children a place to spend their day with familiar teachers and peers.
Children in a Montessori setting typically spend time with hands-on classroom materials, practical life activities, and age-appropriate learning tasks that encourage independence and focus. For parents, that can mean a program where children are supported to explore at their own pace while still following a consistent daily rhythm. The available feedback suggests a warm environment where teachers stay in close communication with families and take care to keep parents updated on what children are doing during the day.
This kind of program may be especially relevant for toddlers and preschool-age children who are ready for a more regular school experience. The atmosphere comes across as personal and relationship-focused, with families noting attentive teachers and a strong sense of community. Parents who value frequent communication, a caring classroom team, and a Montessori approach may want to learn more about current enrollment, age groups, and scheduling.
My son has been going to MOA since 6 months old and he absolutely loves it. The teachers have been amazing and caring and he looks forward to going to school every day.
Amazing staff and teacher who go above and beyond for our child. I feel a sense of community within the school and I cannot thank them enough for their expert care of my child. They helped her walk, speak (English and Spanish), meanwhile providing general care and being so communicative to my husband and I.
We’ve been so happy with our son’s care at Montessori of Alameda. The teachers genuinely care and communicate frequently. Our son comes home everyday so happy. We highly recommend!
My three children attended MOA for 3.5 years. We loved our teachers and our community there.
The clear, timely communication and professionalism of the staff is a completely different story than what we hear from our friends' daycare experiences. The teachers are caring, empathetic and genuinely seem to enjoy spending time with my child. He loves going to daycare each day.
