in the last weekMy summer class was small (5). Everyone participated in French all the time. My teacher always spoke French even when we were having difficulty and eventually, usually with laughter, we figured out what the answer was. It was a long class 2.5 hrs. But the teacher had so many varied approaches that the time moved quickly. We read aloud, worked in small groups, reviewed homework and learned new concepts. It was well worth the money and I will continue my studies with AF.

4 months agoWhile it is self-sustaining and independent, the Alliance Française de Seattle is part of a worldwide network of Alliance Française schools. When you study here, you are part of a long tradition and a global community of French learners. The setting at the Good Shepard Center is a spectacular oasis in the middle of the city - I feel energized and uplifted taking lessons at the AF. The classes are well structured and the teachers are great. While you can use the apps on your phone now to learn or to translate while travelling, nothing can replace the joy of installing a new language in your head through classroom interaction over time.
