Seattle Infant Development Center is a preschool and child care program in downtown Seattle that serves families looking for consistent care and early learning in a more school-like setting. Located on 6th Ave, it appears especially relevant for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who benefit from a steady routine, attentive teachers, and a close-knit classroom community.
Children here are likely spending their days in a structured early childhood environment with a mix of play, learning, and daily care. Families describe a place where children come home having learned something new, which suggests a program that includes age-appropriate activities and day-to-day developmental experiences rather than simple supervision. The center also appears to offer the kind of continuity that can matter a lot for young children, especially when they are settling into their first regular care arrangement.
For parents, the teacher-child relationship seems to be a major part of the experience. The staff is described as caring, dedicated, and long-tenured, which may help families feel more comfortable with a child spending significant time there. The atmosphere comes across as warm and community-oriented, with small class sizes and low ratios that may help teachers give children more individual attention. That can be especially helpful for younger children who need extra support as they adjust to group care.
Because this is a scheduled childcare and preschool setting, parents will likely want to ask about current age groups, availability, and classroom options before enrolling. Families looking for a downtown Seattle program that combines reliable child care with early learning and a supportive parent community may find Seattle Infant Development Center a strong fit.

8 months agoBoth our kids attend SIDC and we're very happy to be a part of this school. The teachers are wonderful and invested. Being a nonprofit and the longest running daycare in downtown makes us feel like a special community. Our kids love being here and come home every day having learned something new.

11 months agoMy son has been at SIDC for the past 2.5 years. When we started here, I didn’t understand why they called it a “school,” but now I see that it is so much more than just daycare. My son has learned so much, and my whole family has enjoyed the community that we have found at the center. I also appreciate how caring the teachers are — many of them have been here for years or even decades. I would recommend SIDC to any parent looking for quality childcare.

2 years agoOur preschooler has had a great time at SIDC for the last three years, and has grown in so many ways thanks to the thoughtful care of her teachers. We appreciate the skilled and dedicated staff and board, small class sizes, low teacher to child ratios, and minimal closures. SIDC has been a supportive community for us on top of providing excellent child care - we feel right at home!

1 year agoMy children have attended SIDC for the past 3.5 years, and we've loved the experience across classrooms. Specifically, what stands out to us is 1) community feel (parent-run board, ample opportunities to volunteer and get to know other families); 2) tenured teachers (multiple with 30+ years at SIDC under their belts); and 3) low ratios (SIDC intentionally keeps class sizes small). Our children have thrived, and we've learned a lot as parents through our engagement with the staff. Also, not a primary highlight, but I think it's worth flagging that parking is free / convenient and the garage exit feeds you immediately into I-5 North. Highly recommend!

2 years agoWe have loved our two years as part of the SIDC community. It's such a gem. The teachers are caring and experienced, the staff/child ratio is really low, and our son always walks in the door happy to be there and has learned so much. Like many parents, we started our childcare journey wondering about what would be the best fit, and we feel so lucky to have found our way to SIDC!
