Young Voyagers Montessori School of Arts in Salem offers a Montessori education with an arts-rich approach that may appeal to families looking for a warm, individualized school environment. The program appears relevant for a broad range of children, with reported enrollment from infants through third grade, making it a flexible option for parents seeking continuity as children grow.
Children at Young Voyagers seem to take part in traditional Montessori work alongside creative experiences that include arts, music, and theater. That combination can give young learners a chance to move between hands-on academic materials and expressive activities in the same school day. For parents, that may be especially helpful if they want an environment where children are supported as individuals and encouraged to engage in more than one style of learning.
The school is described as kind, attentive, and communicative, with staff who work closely with families and adapt to each child’s needs. That can be reassuring for parents of infants, preschoolers, and school-age children alike, especially when looking for a setting that feels collaborative rather than impersonal. The atmosphere comes across as warm and welcoming, which may help children settle in and feel comfortable.
Families considering Montessori school in Salem options may want to ask about current age group availability, optional enrichment activities, and how the daily schedule is structured for each stage.
We absolutely love Young Voyagers. It’s so heartwarming to see how personalized their approach is with each child. The teachers are kind, attentive, and truly care about the kids and their development. They go above and beyond to keep the children engaged and excited about learning. My child is in Pre-K this year and has been at a couple of other schools, and this will be the place she’ll stay until she outgrows the program. I’m so grateful we found Young Voyagers and highly recommend them.
Great school
Worst “school” experience imaginable – this place is NOT a school. This is nothing more than an overpriced, daycare masquerading as an educational facility. Most of the teachers aren't licensed only certified, they aren’t even registered as a legitimate school with the state, and it shows in every single interaction. My 5-year-old nephew now flinches at loud noises and sudden movements – traumatic responses he never had before attending here – despite the fact that he was never once physically disciplined at home. The staff put their hands on him multiple times (moving, grabbing, restraining) even though their own handbook claims they don’t use corporal punishment. They completely ignored his medically documented allergies and dietary restrictions, fed him foods he’s severely allergic to, then blamed a five-year-old child for “not telling them” when he had a reaction. They repeatedly disregarded his BIP/education plan that they provided. When he had a meltdown (after being physically disciplined or secluded) they locked him in an office for 45 minutes for "safety" He understandably panicked and made a small mess. Their response? Act shocked and scold him further. He came home with soaking wet clothes consistently despite the fact that we sent multiple full changes of clothing clearly labeled in his bag. This went on for weeks and eventually led to him developing pneumonia. Whenever we asked about their own written policies (late pick-up, illness, discipline, etc.), the “teachers” had to go look it up because none of them actually knew what the rules were supposed to be. They don’t follow their own handbook, yet they’ll threaten to kick your child out if you dare question them. They also sent out a mass email after all of this saying it was slanderous and lies, which led to an illegitimate influx of 5 star reviews from multiple parents. This place traumatized my nephew, endangered his health, and provided zero education. If I could give zero stars I would. Stay far away – this is not a school, it’s neglect with a tuition bill attached.
This is our second year our child has been enrolled in YVM. My child’s development has grown thanks to the great work of the teachers. There are proactive solutions to behaviors noticed and I feel supported from the teachers and staff. They have worked with my child and have provided a great learning atmosphere. So thankful! This is a great place to send your child during the year or for their summer programs!
