Birth Center Care and Family Support in Richland

Columbia Birth Center in Richland provides birth center services for families planning a natural or midwife-led birth experience. For parents preparing for delivery, this kind of setting may appeal to those who want a more personal, calm environment with care that is focused on the mother, baby, and support team throughout labor and birth.

The experience appears to extend beyond delivery itself, with support that continues after the baby is born. That may be especially helpful for families who value guidance in the early postpartum period and want a place that feels familiar rather than purely clinical. The setting is described as peaceful and clean, which may matter to parents considering where they will give birth and recover.

For families with older children or multiples, the center is also described as kid friendly for visits, which could make it easier for parents balancing childbirth care with family logistics. Because birth planning often involves several moving parts, parents may want to ask about billing, insurance, and what to expect during prenatal and postpartum visits so they can plan ahead with confidence.

Columbia Birth Center may be a good option for parents in Richland who are looking for supportive, midwife-centered birth care in a calm family-oriented environment.

I had an incredible natural birthing experience with my first baby at the Birthing Center. The midwives were incredible and provided exceptional care throughout the process of delivering my baby. I felt completely respected, not rushed, and empowered to have my baby. I took the advice of the Birthing Center and got a Doula which I truly believe was a very important decision to help me get through this with my husband and the midwives!
The only reason I am giving four stars was due to the billing process and dealing with insurance. I wish they could make the process more informative and straightforward.

As a mom of three — one hospital birth and two births here — I can honestly say I would choose this Birth Center again every single time. The care and support are truly unmatched, and I recommend them to all my friends and family without hesitation. What makes this place so special is that the support doesn’t end once your baby is born. They continue to be there for you through every stage, offering guidance, encouragement, and genuine care whenever you need it. You don’t just leave with a baby — you become part of the Birth Center family.

throughout my pregnancy I seen 4 different doctors, the second place i went to i had a very disappointing experience which was Columbia Birthing Center. At the beginning of my care, I was told that my insurance was accepted, but that there would be additional out-of-pocket fees for “aftercare” and certain procedures not covered by insurance. Based on that information, I moved forward with them and payed the 700$ before what i knew would be my last appointment.
For most of my pregnancy, my appointments were routine and uneventful. However, just two weeks before my due date, I was suddenly told that my iron levels were too low for me to safely continue care at their facility, and my care was transferred elsewhere at the last minute. This was extremely stressful and frustrating so late in my pregnancy.
What makes this situation worse is that I later learned my iron levels had already been too low during a previous blood draw months earlier. Despite this, no one at Columbia Birthing Center flagged it as a concern or suggested treatment options like iron infusions at that time they suggest to buy iron pills from the store but neglected to inform me that i needed them to continue care, the severity of the situation was not explained to me what so ever and as a first time mother thats not somthing im experianced in and it would have been nice to be informed that something like that could happen .
To add to the frustration, although I paid $700 for services that included “aftercare,” I never received any aftercare due to being transferred out. Despite this, they have refused to refund any portion of what I paid based on the contract.
Overall, I feel misled, poorly managed, and unsupported during a very important time. I Also feel as if i was lead on to believe i would continue care there just so i would make the 700 dollar payment only to be informed the next day i would not be able to give birth there. I would not recommend this facility based on my experience.

The team at Columbia birth helped me have a smooth and wonderful birth experience from start to finish. I’m grateful for the entire team from billing to midwives. Cannot recommend them enough. The facility is clean, peaceful and beautiful. Also kid friendly for visits which helps with moms of multiples. Thank you Columbia birth center team!

Was very sad to see my baby’s head for 8 hours with no movement, being told not to say we want to be transferred to the hospital. I was told my wife was not pushing hard enough. She needs more encouragement, different positions, etc. Nope, my wife’s tailbone was in the way, so having a midwife with experience and knowledge after being transferred to Kadlec really helped as she had to forcibly try to break the tailbone or move it so she did not have to have a c-section. I’d recommend doing lots of research and reviews on one specific midwife to guide you through this journey. As a father, this was tough to watch and experience. 12 hours of my baby girl crowning before we got to hold her and watch her be ripped away to the NICU.
